Best Bible for New Believers

Many times when people become new Christians they don’t know where to start their journey of faith. They look for a church, or they join a Bible study, and at some point they buy their first Bible. This article will hopefully help you decide what would be a good Bible for a new Christian who are just starting out in their Christian faith, or for those who are going to give a gift of a Bible for a new believer in Christ.

Having been a pastor since 1988 and having completed a new search, I have found the New Believer’s Bible NLT to be the best choice for a new believer or someone who is still searching for the truth.

Best Bible For New Believers

Last updated on July 14, 2018 3:02 pm

Ninety leading Bible scholars of our day translated the NLT (New Living Translation) and it will help you grasp even the most difficult-to-understand Bible passages. They call it the “Truth made Clear”. That explains it very well.

Greg Laurie (General Editor) is president of Harvest Ministries Inc. He is a pastor, teacher and evangelist. He is especially passionate about helping new believers understand the Bible.

He has included the following sections:

  • How you can know God
  • What is missing in our lives?
  • The solution: Jesus Christ
  • We put Jesus on the cross.
  • The response: accept God’s offer
  • What God has done for you
  • Adopted and assured

The notes and explanations cover the basics such as:

  • Who is God?
  • What’s humanity role in the whole scheme of things?
  • What is sin?
  • Who is Jesus?
  • How can I be sure I am going to heaven?

Who is this Bible best suited for?

If you are just beginning your life as a Christian, this Bible is for you. Or if you are not sure yet if you believe, this Bible is for you. When I accepted Jesus into my heart, I knew nothing other than that I had seriously blown it and that Jesus died to make it all right!

I wish I could have had The New Believer’s Bible NLT when I was a new believer.

It is simple to use so you won’t be overwhelmed as you begin your study of the Bible.

For one who is a seasoned Christian, or who grew up with a Biblical background, this Bible is not the best choice. They most likely will have already studied and understood the study helps included in this Bible. They would be better suited with one of these study Bibles.

What’s included?

I don’t think, should you choose this Bible, that you will be lacking in answers to your most basic questions about the Bible.

What Is The Best Bible For A New Christian?

So many study Bibles are available these days that the abundance may be daunting for the new believer.

The New Believer’s Bible, NLT version is the one I would choose first.

The NLT is amazingly easy to understand because it is translated into today’s vernacular.

The study notes start at square one: “Who is God?”

They continue through basically every area you must learn to form a solid Biblical foundation: “What is Sin?” And “What is forgiveness?”

Finally, there are selections on how to apply what the Bible teaches to your life and another section reserved for FAQ’s.

I highly recommend The New Believer’s Bible NLT as a starting place for new believers to get off on the right foot. It will prepare you for the next steps to take as you grow closer to our wonderful Lord Jesus. What an exhilarating journey it will be!
