What does the Bible say about the Holy Spirit? -- Bible verses about the work of the Holy Spirit

This by no means a comprehensive list of Bible verses about the Holy Spirit. It is a list that gives an overview of the work and operation of the Holy Spirit.

In today’s age of scripted church services and controlled environments little time if any is actually given to allow the Spirit of God to work in the hearts of the people.

Recently, my first pastor, Jerry Cook was asked a question by a young pastor. He asked “What is the big deal about the Holy Spirit?” After Jerry got over his shock and anger at such a flippant question, His response turned into a book.

That, more than anything, told me that we need to start emphasizing being more Spirit-led in our churches.

Final Thoughts On The Holy Spirit

As you can see, the Holy Spirit is supposed to be a big part of the Christian life.

I believe that the lack of Bible study on the Holy Spirit and the lack of teaching about how to let the Holy Spirit lead you is the reason that the church has lost it’s passion and purpose today.

Just like that young pastor who honestly didn’t see what was the big deal about the Holy Spirit, many others have forgotten that it is the Holy Spirit that enables us to do the works that Jesus did.

Take a moment to stop what you are doing and ask God to forgive you for holding a part of Him at arm’s length. Ask Him to immerse (baptize) you in all the fullness He has for you with the Holy Spirit. It will change your life.
